The United States Armed Forces is composed of six coequal military service branches. Five of the branches, the United States Army, United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, United States Air Force, and United States Space Force are organized under the Department of Defense's military departments.

The United States Army (USA) is the land service branch of the United States Armed Forces. Personnel in the Army work in various branches, which is their area of training or expertise. Currently, the Army classifies its branches as maneuver, fires, and effects; operations support; and force sustainment.
Warrant officers are classified by warrant officer military occupational specialty, or WOMOS. Codes consists of three digits plus a letter. Related WOMOS are grouped together by Army branch. The Army is currently restructuring its personnel management systems, as of 2019.
