Duct tape has been highly regarded as a save-all for fixing things around the home since World War II. The tape was created to seal soldiers' ammunition cases and make them water-resistant. The tape is thought to be commonly misspelled as "duck tape," but the tape was actually first created using a woven cotton fabric known as duck cloth. After the war, however, the product was sold commercially for use around the home. In the 1950s, the tape was modified to become temperature resistant and construction workers used the tape to seal air ducts. Thus, the current nomenclature.
