Make sure you keep your generator outside. Carbon monoxide gas is released into the air and poses a threat of poisoning if the generator is not well-ventilated. They should never be placed in a garage or open windows. If your generator isn't waterproof, it might pose a risk of shock. Finally, equip your home with carbon monoxide detectors.
