If the cheese has already hardened, scrape the solid pieces off the carpet with a dull knife (a butter knife works well). Then, mix one teaspoon of a mild detergent (containing no alkalies or bleaches) with a cup of lukewarm water. Sponge the solution into the stain.

Then, blot the area dry – do not rub! Use a spray bottle to spritz the stained area with room-temperature water. Blot the area again to remove excess moisture, and allow the stain to fully dry. If the stain persists, moisten the stained area with hydrogen peroxide. You can find it at your local drugstore for less than $1 for 16 ounces. Let the peroxide stand for a full hour then blot. Repeat until the carpet is stain-free.

Did your friend Joe use your new couch to wipe off the sauce from his BBQ wings?

First, use a dull knife to scrape off any excess sauce from the upholstery. Mix a solution of two cups cool water and one-tablespoon dishwashing liquid. Sponge the solution slowly in the stain, and then blot it until the liquid is absorbed.

Use a spray bottle to rinse the stain with cold water, but only get the upholstery as wet as necessary to remove the barbeque sauce stain. Repeat these steps until the stain had disappeared.

First, blot as much beer up as possible with clean paper towels. Mix two cups of warm water with one tablespoon of white vinegar, and sponge the solution slowly into the stain.
