Here's a close-up of the shelving. When you have such large shelves as these, it is important to incorporate more than just books into the shelving.  Keep it clutter free, and intersperse pottery and framed photos in with the books and other media.

Money-saving idea. . .

Instead of built-ins, she customized a combination of  Billy and Benno bookcases from IKEA with crown molding and trim.

We also used the same resource for our farmhouse tables/desks—Craigslist!  Hers wasn’t the finish she originally wanted so she fixed that with some major sanding and a miniwax stain.

Framed images personalize the space.  Remember, it's an office, but it's also your home! Decorate with mementos, family photographs, and your favorite artwork.

She used additional shelving to separate, her art supplies.  If incorporated into the wall unit, these items would have created a cluttered look.
