Doormats

Things used to remove dirt are often forgotten in daily cleaning.  Doormats are used to get rid of dirt from shoes before entering the home. Wait too long to clean your doormat, and it might have the opposite effect and actually begin to bring dirt into your home.

Shower head

You might constantly scrub your bathtub and shower curtain to rid your shower of fungi and bacteria, but it's likely that you don't pay as much attention to your shower head. Best way to get it clean is to soak it in a vinegar solution, and then scrub it down with a toothbrush.

Toothbrush Holder

Your toothbrush holder might be one of the dirtiest places in your home.  Mold and mildew love wet dark places, and your toothbrush is dripping with all the germs from your mouth. Be sure to store it on the opposite side of the room from the toilet, and constantly toss it in a dishwasher or rinse it down with a disinfectant.

Reusable Grocery Bags

By now, most of us have jumped aboard the going-green train and invested in a few reusable shopping bags.  Remembering to bring your favorite bag to the store with you has been creating a great impact on the number of plastic bags floating around.

There is one thing you are all probably forgetting to do: clean those bags! Studies show most people have never washed their bags resulting in bags covered in E. Coli and fecal bacteria. Simply throw them in the washing machine or wipe them down with a disinfectant spray after using them.

House Plants

Plants often can accumulate layers of dust and dirt, so don't just water your house plants, clean them too!

The Top of Your Fridge

Out of sight out of mind, right? Just because you can't see the top of your fridge definitely doesn't mean there isn't tons of dirt and grime living up there. Remember to grab a step stool and wipe it down while doing your normal kitchen cleaning routine.

Light Switches

We use them daily, and studies show they might be one of the top places in our homes for spreading sickness. Wipe them down with a disinfectant spray at least once a week.  If someone in the house is sick, increase that to a few times a week.

Under Appliances

Let's be honest: You probably never pull out your major appliances like your fridge and oven to clean underneath and behind them.  These can be key areas for dirt, food and germs to accumulate. We're not suggesting adding this to your weekly routine, but remember to do it every so often.

Under Rugs

Sure we vacuum the rug, but how often do we lift it up and clean underneath? You'd be amazed how much dirt a rug can hide. When cleaning, lift your rugs, shake them out, and then clean underneath for a real thorough clean.

This is one chore we probably don't forget but just deliberately ignore.  The more often you clean out the inside of your garbage can, the less of a chore it will be each time.
