Kate Middleton Redecorates Kensington Palace Like An Expert Interior Designer

Kate Middleton and Prince William have become infamous for breaking royal traditions, and for the Duchess of Cambridge, redecorating is no different. Kate Middleton has been hands-on in interior decorating plans for the family’s new home at Kensington Palace. Over the past 18 months, Kate Middleton has worked on renovating Apartment 1A at KP for the new family of three as they’ve welcomed Prince George into the world.

In spite of the global excitement around Kate Middleton’s pregnancy, Prince William’s wife diligently stayed involved in the Kensington Palace upgrade. Using her smartphone, Kate Middleton was able to look through photos of antique offerings from the Royal Collection, fabric swatches and furniture options. Redecorating the 20-room palace is no small job, but Middleton has proven her dedication in making sure it’s just right for her family like any new homeowner.

Reportedly, Kate is working with her mother Carole’s designer, Anne Allen, for much of the redecorating. The royal family will make Kensington Palace home which includes three kitchens, his and hers bathrooms, a panic room and includes encrypted WiFi capabilities and central air. And how is Kate Middleton making her husband’s childhood home special for her family? With two 19th century Corinthian lamps for the entrance hall and an ornate Persian rug worth $50,000, Middleton is revamping KP. But in true William and Kate fashion, not all of the decorating style is so grand. In fact, Middleton chose a subtle beige, cream and earth tone color palette and she is making savvy purchases like two faux-fur 6 1/2 –foot throws for just $129 from the Peter Jones department store.

With a subdued color palette and hand-touches, Kate Middleton is taking all the right steps to soften the living space of Kensington Palace and make it truly a home- especially for newborn son Prince George. Princess Diana’s chef, Darren McGrady told Us, “The baby’s going to grow up running in the same gardens and hiding places William and Harry played in.” A former Kensington Palace resident revealed that KP is a very friendly and welcoming place: the perfect setting to raise a baby! And as the new family enjoys their new digs, we can’t wait to see what new decorating jobs are on the horizon in this safe, neighborly environment.
