The holidays can get messy with all of the celebrations. Cranberry sauce, eggnog, red wine and chocolate are all holiday favorites that can leave unsightly stains in your home! With all the parties and events you'll be hosting, there is bound to be an influx of people coming in and out of your home. This holiday season, don't sweat the small stuff or cry over spilled... eggnog, we've got tips for tackling some of the worst holiday stains!
During the holidays, we all want to showcase our nicest tablecloths and wear our fanciest clothing. However, beforehand be sure to check the labels for specific care instructions. These tips are not 100% guaranteed, but worth a try when trying to rid your clothing of stains the holidays may have caused.

Candle Wax
Spill a drop or two of candle wax on your best tablecloth? No problem! Simply put the garment in the freezer or rub down with an ice cube (like with chewing gum). As the wax hardens, you'll be able to chip it right off.

Colored Candle Wax
If the wax is colored, sponge with a solution of 1/2 wood alcohol mixed with 1/2 water to get rid of the coloring.

Chocolate
Chocolate cookies, brownies and chocolate fondues! The holidays are filled with chocolaty treats! If you happen to get some on your clothing, first scrape off all the excess. Next flush it with club soda and blot it clean with a damp cleaning cloth.

If you happened to get it on one of your many non washable materials such as rayon or silk, follow the same steps only finish by flushing it with a dry-cleaning solvent.

Tea
Sitting around a warm cup of tea can be a lovely way to end an evening's festivities. If some tea manages to leak onto your favorite cottons or linens, simply soak in a solution of 1 tablespoon of Borax per 1 cup of water.

Cranberries
Cranberry is so delicious we love to put it in everything this time of year! However, berry stains can be tough to remove once dried, so attack this spill immediately. For washable fabrics, first dab with denatured alcohol, flush with vinegar, and then dab with dish detergent.

Red Wine On Carpeting
Dampen the stain thoroughly and rub some Borax on it. Vacuum it, then finish it off with a vinegar and water solution. Let it dry and repeat if necessary.

Whipped Cream Pie Topper
Milk and cream don't pose too great of a danger to your fabrics. If they spill on a washable item, simply sponge it off with warm water and wash as usual.

Buttery Grease Based Stains
For washable fabrics, cover immediately with an absorbent to draw out the stain. Dab with a combination solvent and flush thoroughly with water. If necessary, by flushing with mineral spirits or oil solvent.

Christmas Tree Sap
We love the look and smell of a real evergreen tree, but we don't love getting the sap from the tree on everything. To get sap out of your washables, dab the stain with mineral spirits or oil solvent and let it dry. Finish by rubbing it with laundry detergent before tossing it in the wash.
