There never seems to be enough closet space, so invest in items like skinny hangers, a hanging shoe rack and jewelry container.

Remember, the foot of your bed should always be closest to the door. This can save you hours on deciding which corner to place the bed in.


Throwing your first housewarming party is somewhat of a right of passage and small, casual gatherings are the key to having fun. Make sure to coordinate with roommates to ensure party expectations are properly communicated. Provide easy snacks like popcorn and chips that won't stain your floor. Only serve clear liquids - we don't want red wine on the carpet. The landlord won't be happy!
