Miss a Kiss at Midnight: What happens if you don’t kiss your partner at the stroke of midnight? According to superstition, it could mean a cold and distant relationship for the year. However, don't take this one too seriously--true love is true love.

Go to the Bathroom: Make sure you take your bathroom break well in advance of midnight. Don't get stuck in there when everyone is cheering!

Talking on the Phone: You don't want to take an important phone call before the ball drops and miss out on the celebration! Be sure to set your phone off at 11:45, and turn it back on at 12:01 so you don't miss your loved one's calls.

Kiss the Wrong Person: If you are committed, however, make sure you kiss the right person when the ball drops! You don't want to make your partner mad -- it's not a good way to start the year.

Have Food in Your Mouth: Don't take a bite right before midnight! Instead join in the celebration, the food will be there after! Unless of course you are following a tradition, such as eating a dozen grapes before the strike of midnight, to guarantee good luck in the new year.

Staying Silent, or being Shy: Some superstitions say that evil spirits want to ruin your year, so unless you are loud and cheering, those spirits might actually have an impact on your upcoming 365 days!

First Guest in Your Home Should Bring a Gift: This may be a superstition only in the United Kingdom, but the first guest to arrive at your home is believed to hold their good fortune. It should be a man who has gifts (coal for the fire or a loaf of bread for the table). Entering through the front door and exited from the back is a must.
