Wallpaper That Tells A Story
If you are looking for a twist on wall art, try this witty DIY wallpaper project.
We spotted the perfect alternative to tired wall decor -- use framed wallpaper panels to tell a "story."
Here, a roll of wallpaper featuring a nautical scenic print was divided into sections and then framed. What makes this different from other framed wallpaper projects is that the design depicts a scene, multiple objects or a "story," if you will, rather than a single graphic pattern. Framing intermittent parts of a scene makes it interesting and downright modern.
There are several layers of clever decorating ideas at work here. Wallpaper, frames and wall color all coordinate, and make it look like they all came with the house. Spread the collection on adjacent walls, and you have a museum gallery feel. Get started on your own art collection with the directions below along with some pictorial wallpaper ideas.
What You Need
Assorted sized frames. Choose wood frames so they can be painted if desired.
How To Do It
Unroll wallpaper to show two to three repeats of the design.
Begin placing all of your frames on the wallpaper to visualize what sections you would like to feature. It's okay to overlap or repeat areas.
Measure and cut out your wallpaper using an X-acto knife and metal ruler as your guide to fit your frame.
Spray paint the frames a complementary color and set them aside to dry.
Insert your paper into the frames and hang them on a wall.
