Trunks and your heavier branches of the Christmas tree are able to support large planters of flowers or possibly be the base for a compost pile in your backyard.

For one South Carolina woman, Christmas tree decorating isn’t just a holiday task to check off – it’s her passion. In an interview with USA Today, Phyllis Colborne has decorated her home for the holidays with 26 Christmas trees each uniquely decorated all over her house, even in her bathroom. The standout tree? A Christmas tree with 4,000 ornaments—enough to fill 24 storage bins—and tall enough to reach her ceiling.
She admits, “People think I’m crazy,” but she doesn’t let that stop her. Though her outdoor holiday decor is modest, the interior is surprising. In addition to her intricately decorated Christmas trees are lined up Christmas nutrackers, Santas on every shelf and more all-out decorations. To tackle all that holiday decorating, Phyllis Colborne starts decorating in September.
