San Francisco Named Best City For Trick-or-Treating... Again!
No city does trick or treating like San Francisco. Without a doubt, trick or treating is the climax of Halloween. But what’s the perfect treat without the best trick or treating neighborhood? For the third consecutive year, Zillow.com has ranked San Francisco the top city for trick or treating in 2013. After much analyzing and factors taken into account, the high-priced Bay Area city topped Zillow.com’s annual “20 Best” list once again.
San Francisco topped the charts after an extensive account of data including home values, population density, walkability and, most importantly, crime. According to Zillow, it’s the large sidewalks and the notoriously luxurious homes that make it the ideal metropolis. High population density, walkable neighborhoods and high home values are the makings of the perfect trick or treating town. Top on the priority list for Zillow is where trick-or-treaters can get the most candy with the fewest walking steps and safety risks.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Zillow’s chief marketing officer Amy Bohutinksy said, “The cities that made the top of our list had winning combinations of walkable neighborhoods, high home values--as we theorized that bigger homes in more expensive neighborhoods would give out bigger, better candy--low crime rates and high population density."
Within San Francisco, Noe Valley, Sea Cliff, Cow Hollow, Presidio Heights, and Glen Park made the top five neighborhood rankings. Residents say the neighbors are friendly and even the store owners get really in on the fun. But, before flocking to San Francisco it is important to note that healthy or even vegan treats are big in the Bay. So San Francisco might not be the best trick or treating town if super-sweet indulgence is a Halloween priority.
Following behind San Francisco, Zillow’s “20 Best” list included Boston, Honolulu, San Jose and Seattle in its top five ranks. Denver, Miami, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Los Angeles were also among the top 20 cities listed.
And while you may not be a San Francisco resident, welcoming trick-or-treaters to your front door is fun no matter where you are. Now’s the time to make it a memorable experience visitors can remember even after the candy’s run out. Make sure your front door ready for the little princesses and goblins to visit to make it the safest yet most enjoyable Halloween yet.
