The Royal Baby Has Arrived And #ItsABoy
IT'S A BOY! Congratulations to Prince William and Kate Middleton on their new royal baby boy! After months of anticipation and over 12 hours in labor, the royal baby finally entered the world at 4:24pm BST (11:24 am EST) on July 22, 2013. The newborn boy weighed in at 8lbs. 6 oz., and it has been confirmed that both he and his mother are doing well.
Against tradition, the birth was officially announced via a formal press release by Kensington Palace. The press release included that the Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth and members of the family are "delighted with the news." Additionally, a bulletin including the details of the birth was placed outside the gates of Buckingham Palace for the public to see.
Luckily, Prince William was present for the birth and afterward said, "We could not be happier." He's staying the night in the hospital with Kate and their newborn boy. As for the Prince of Wales, the new grandfather stated, "Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone's life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future."
But the royal baby's grandfather isn't the only one making a statement on the birth. The President of the United States released a statement congratulating William and Kate and wishing them "All the happiness and blessings parenthood brings." From Kelly Osborne to Ellen DeGeneres, people around the world are offering their well wishes to the couple taking to Twitter with the hashtag #ItsaBoy.
Though the name of the new royal is still uncertain, the world is happily celebrating England's third in line to the royal thrown!
