Plant of the Week: Cotton

We all know the cotton plant is responsible for the creation of some of the softest clothing.  We dream of sleeping on beds covered in Eygptian cotton.  Perhaps you live in the South and are accustomed to driving through the fields of cotton that line the highways of states like Virginia and North Carolina.  Yes, we are all familiar with cotton and its traditional uses but, did you know that cotton can also serve as a classic, refined, beautiful alternative to flowers in your home decor?
Mix the branches with greenery or dried flowers and create decorative floral arrangements that will brighten the indoors of your home. Also, good news! Cotton plants will last much longer than flowers so no need to constantly be running to the florist for replacements.  Take a break from the flowers and instead try long branches of cotton in a tall vase to make the perfect fall/winter decorations. As we creep closer to winter, you can pair it with evergreen sprigs and pinecones, or craft the branches into a beautiful wreath for your front door.
