42 Bed Sheets Help Man Win Over Wedding Proposal
Gone are the days when bed sheets were used only for sleeping—at least for one love-struck Tennessee man. Clifton Smith from Clarksvillle, TN, spelled out “Will You Marry Me?” in bed sheets on his girlfriend’s farm, succeeding in his efforts to perform a unique proposal.
"I had just talked to my parents a few months ago and thought of some really outlandish ideas," Smith said GoodMorningAmerica.com. "And one of them was to see something in a plane. I originally thought about getting paint or something, but I wanted it to be more unique.
Using 42 bed sheets Smith spelled out the proposal in 15-foot-tall letters. He had his girlfriend, Rachel Weakley, take a casual plane ride with him. Naively, Weakley agreed as she believed Smith’s statement that the trip was for his “graduate work.”
"She was really excited because we were getting close and she could see her neighbor's houses, and then we get right over her parent's house and she could see what it said,” Smith said.
Smith’s whole family was involved as his father was responsible for cutting the heart-shaped design into the field. And the efforts paid off! As soon as Weakley realized what was happening, she began crying tears of joy.
"Once we saw the big heart in the field and the letters I turned around and looked at him and he had the box out and I said, 'Yes,' and started crying," Weakley said. "It was just awesome. It was unbelievable."
So, next time you want to throw out old bed sheets, you should think twice. As Clifton Smith proves, even something as ordinary as bed sheets can lead to an amazing moment.
